Knaresborough World Champions?

On Tuesday Knaresborough Under 17s entertained a team from Islamabad Private Schools Sports Association.  They are touring England following a triumph in the world cup in Melbourne last year which saw them win both T20 and 50 overs trophies.

After arriving late we managed just to fit in a T20 match.  They batted first and were soon reduced to 33-5 thanks to a blistering opening spell by Olly Fryer (4-8), guesting from Birstwith. They clearly had problems with swing and seam movement.  After a couple of decent partnerships they ended with 98-7.

In reply Knaresborough were soon struggling losing the first 4 wickets cheaply. Stands between Dan Howard (27no) and Jonny Sadler (20) and then between Dan and Ben Ward (33no) took us to victory.  We learned a lesson in how to appeal and it’s fair to say it wasn’t a quiet afternoon! I think they were disappointed to loose their champion status.
