Under 13s A Season Review.

It has been a hectic season for the U13 A team squad but I am very lucky to have such a committed and talented team. I have also been lucky to have had great support from parents.

We have also been lucky to have our coach John Barnes working with the squad and the improvement in their techniques has been clear to see.

We were drawn in League C with Harrogate ‘A’, Spofforth, Bilton, Pannal and a new team to the Nidderdale Junior League in TABS (Thorp Arch and Boston Spa). This looked the toughest league out of the 4.

We started well winning our first 3 league games fairly convincingly against Spofforth, Bilton and Pannal. Then we hosted TABS and we knew, from their recent results, that this would be a good test. We managed to bowl them out for 80, a magnificent bowling performance considering they had 3 Yorkshire U13 players in their team. Unfortunately they bowled us out for 61. At this stage we had an idea that our games against Harrogate would decide who qualified through to the league play offs along with TABS. At this stage in the season we also qualified through to the semi finals of the Cup and we were to play TABS at Scotton, a good batting wicket. In a thrilling game we just finished 2 runs short.

We now only had the league play offs to contend for. We lost our home game against Harrogate but we beat TABS at their place so our season rested on an away game at Harrogate. During this game I witnessed the best all round performance from our boys as we quite simply outplayed them in their own backyard. So we found ourselves qualified to the quarter finals of the League play offs along with TABS. We went to Helperby and beat them so through to the semis against Bedale away which we also won. We are now through to the finals at Studley Royal in September and you will probably be able to guess who we might be playing!

A hectic rollercoaster of a season with a great team. Well done boys I am proud of you all.
