Winning the toss and batting on a typical Beckwithshaw pitch was a god start. Ben Cutts and George Davies set about the bowling adding 101 for the first wicket within 10 overs. George went on to score 68 off 29 balls with the last 46 from 15 with only one dot ball. Sam Davies,16 and Sam Witham,15 kept the score moving and Knaresborough finished on 170-5.
This was always going to be a tough total to chase, but our cause wasn’t helped when Captain Sam Davies broke his thumb whilst trying to keep wicket. Despite 30s from Scott Irvine and Tom Lawson, ‘Shaw were never in the chase and finished in the dark on 134-5, James Keane took 3-27 including the important wickets of Irvine and Harry Lister.
