Junior Cricket
We have a thriving junior section that offers cricket coaching and competition for children and young people aged 5 to 18 years of age. All coaching is lead by qualified coaches who are trained and have been screened for their suitability for working with young people. Our young cricketers enjoy opportunities to develop in a friendly environment, meet others who share their aspirations and compete at their own level in the Nidderdale Junior Cricket League. We also participate in the ECB All Stars and Dynamos cricket coaching schemes.

Club Announcements
08/12/2022 - Frank McConnell's ObituaryIn his long association with Knaresborough - a span of more than 70 years - Frank was a stalwart of the Club both on and off the field and who, following the death of Denis Prest, became the Club’s oldest surviving former cricketer. As a player, his most productive years were the 1950s when he was a key member of the 1stX1 in its days in the Yorkshire Council. An opening batsman, he could, as the occasion demanded, be either flamboyant and exciting - a rapid 89 out of 163 against Laisterdyke in 1956 exemplifies this - or obdurate and resilient; notable illustrations of these qualities were demonstrated in 1958 when he carried his bat for an unbeaten five ( ! ) out of a dismal team total of 20 all out versus Illingworth; and in 1956 when, in reply to a score of 174-5 made by Ackworth ( whose team included a then 15 year old Geoffrey Boycott ), KCC trundled to 57-6, with Frank scoring an undefeated 10 made in 140 minutes! ( Those were the days of “ time “ rather than “ overs “ cricket ).He continued to contribute significantly when KCC joined the Airedale and Wharfedale League; in 1959, the first season in that League, for example, against Addingham he made 86 in an opening stand of 158. In his later years, Frank played for the 2nd X1, including a spell as captain, where he displayed his skills as an imaginative and thoughtful skipper, while at the same time promoting and encouraging the development of the Club’s crop of talented youngsters who were just starting to bloom. When his playing days were over, Frank continued to involve himself in Club matters on the General Committee and as an Office holder, where he proved himself to be a highly efficient and industrious administrator. For several further years, he went on to take an active interest in the Club and its fortunes, both on and off the field; his views and opinions were always respected and valued. There is now left only a handful of cricketers associated with the Club who played with Frank, but all of them will say - as would others with whom he had dealings - that he was a most delightful and generous individual; he had a cheery smile; a kindly disposition; an approachable manner; an engaging warmth; and, always, a resolute determination to do the best possible, in whatever form it took, by and for the Club, for whom he was a wonderful ambassador. He will be much missed.
